OS X Server 4.0 is a server operating system designed, developed, and sold by Apple from 2014 to 2015 alongside OS X 10.10 Yosemite. The system was released on October 16, 2014, and was available for $19.99 from the Mac App Store.
OS X Server provides the tools to simplify access to key network services, including a mail transfer agent, AFP and SMB servers, an LDAP server, a domain name server, and others.
Also included (particularly in later versions) are numerous additional services and the tools to manage them, such as web server, wiki server, chat server, calendar server, and many others.
This software got the last update (4.1.5) on August 13, 2015, and later was replaced by a newer version of macOS Server 5.0. Today OS X Server 4.0 is 9 years old!
