Food Processing


Nano Green is formulated as an organic, biobased, non-hazardous and 100% non-toxic heavy duty cleaner. One of the Company’s prime goals was to produce a totally safe and environmentally friendly product for the needs of health related services and industries. Since it was first introduced, Nano Green has found application for numerous uses in food service distribution, HACCP facilities, restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals, hotels, schools, colleges, and cruise ships. Nano Green is registered by NSF International as an All-Purpose Cleaner. This registration reads,
“This product is acceptable for use as a general cleaner (A1) on all surfaces in and around food processing areas..”

Currently, the Company is offering specialized cleaners, which classify as disinfectants and sanitizers. Nano Green’s active ingredient is a fatty acid, and as such it has antimicrobial, antifungicidal and antibacterial qualities. Tests results from a nationally recognized laboratory dated November 27, 2007, on Nano Green’s “Antimicrobial Effectiveness” confirmed that it was successful in the control of Staph, Strep, E Coli, Salmonella, Pseudomonas, Yeast and Mold. Bacterial reductions from initial incolulum levels were as follows:
Escherichia coli 99.999+% in 7 days
Staphylococcus aureus 99.999+% in 7 days
Pseudomonas aeruginosa 99.995+% in 7 days
Salmonella typhi 99.995+% in 7 days
Streptococcus Pneumonidae 99.999+% in 7 days
Candida albicans 99.999+% in 7 days
Aspergillus niger 99.995+% in 7 days
Applicability and Compliance

Commercially grown fruits and vegetables generally contain harmful residues of pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers, food waxes and other organic soils. Many of the contaminant soils found on fruits and vegetables contain petroleum distillates such as paraffin or mineral oil, terpenes, and glycol ethers, as well as reagent soils such as sodium hydroxide or ammonia compounds. These contaminants are often applied through spraying of pest control chemicals, or can be residues from operating and/or cleaning of agricultural equipment.

Nano Green’s line of cleaning products are USDA and NSF compliant and can be employed for the washing of fresh cut and processed fruits and vegetables. The properties of the soap/cleaner makes it very effective in all major food processing steps including multi-stage flumes, chill tanks, coolers, washing equipment and processing systems. Recent testing has shown that when orchard fruit, such as apples. pears or peaches, are treated with its Veggie-Clean shelf-life is extended with reduced fruit loss.

Nano Green’s goal is to become a major factor in food processing internationally, as soon as it is certified in each country by the appropriate regulatory authorities. In the U.S., this is primarily the aegis of the NSF. In other countries, it will be dependent upon how their legislation is written.

Nano Green has been approved by the NSF for use in and around food processing and food handling areas. NSF Registration assures inspection officials and end users that the product and labeling meets appropriate food safety regulations. It provides product manufacturers, users, and regulatory/inspector groups with a proven method to determine product acceptability. This program compliments food processing equipment certification and NSF's food safety evaluations.

Nano Green is also compliant with, and intends to qualify for approval under HACCP, which mandates that all meat and poultry establishments must identify and manage critical control points in food processing. Control points are defined as those where chemical, physical, and microbial contamination may occur. Once these points are identified, the processor must reduce contamination risk and maintain documentation describing the corrective actions taken.

The third category, for which Nano Green is compliant, is that of an A1 Cleaner. A1 Cleaners consist of compounds for use as general cleaning agents on all surfaces, or for use with steam or mechanical cleaning devices in all departments. Before using these compounds, food products and packaging materials must be removed from the room or carefully protected. After using these compounds, surfaces must be thoroughly rinsed with potable water.

Nano Green is also an ideal cleaner for many of the mechanical items in common usage in the food processing and restaurant industries. These include blades, blenders, cold storage, conveyors, dispensers, drains, equipment, exchangers, facilities, filters, fish, floors, freezers, fruits, grains, homogenizer, kettles, knives, lockers, meat, milk, mixers, nuts, ovens, poultry, processors, surfaces, strainers tanks, traps, utensils, vegetables, vessels, walls, and wash systems.
